The STH 42 Improvement Project construction is beginning to wrap up, however, the STH 42 road closure and associated detour for the Village’s project will remain in place through June 28th, 2024, but is removed on weekends.
When the road closure and detour are in place, access to Village businesses is maintained and STH 42 is open to “Local Traffic Only” meaning any motorists that live, work, or are making a stop at a business/public facility on STH 42 within the road closure are allowed to pass through.
Please review the alternate access routes map as you plan ahead to visit Village businesses while the road closure and detour are in place.
All motorists and pedestrians traveling within the project area are advised to use caution.
Construction this week consisted of remaining sidewalk, terrace, and brick paver installation, street light installation, and restoration efforts.
Looking into next week, final sidewalk, terrace, and brick terrace installation, final street light installation, and restoration efforts will continue.
The detour associated with the Village’s STH 42 Improvement project will be removed as of June 28th, 2024. Final restoration efforts will continue into July, however, will not require a road closure.

JUNE 14TH, 2024
The STH 42 Improvement Project construction continues, and as a reminder the STH 42 road closure and associated detour for the Village’s project is now in place Monday – Friday and removed for the weekends through June 28th, 2024.
When the road closure and detour are in place, access to Village businesses is maintained and STH 42 is open to “Local Traffic Only” meaning any motorists that live, work, or are making a stop at a business/public facility on STH 42 within the road closure are allowed to pass through. Please review the alternate access routes map as you plan ahead to visit Village businesses while the road closure and detour are in place.
All motorists and pedestrians traveling within the project area are advised to use caution.
Construction this week included the final lift of asphalt and pavement marking across the entire project area.
Final restoration work continues in the TAP project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South End and CTH E to Church Street – North End). With sidewalk, terrace and brick paver installation, and street light installation continuing in the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E).
Looking into next week, final pavement marking will take place as well as installation of sidewalk in remaining areas and private driveway paving. Restoration work will begin as well as installation of remaining street lighting units. Also, next week, the Bertschinger Center parking lot will receive its final lift of asphalt and pavement marking.

This week in the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) work continued with sidewalk and terrace installation as well as asphalt paving in areas outside of the travel lanes and streetlight base installation. Utility burial operations are now complete with final restoration work remaining.
MAY 24TH, 2024
The STH 42 Improvement Project construction continues, however, the associated STH 42 road closure and detour for the Village’s project has now been removed for the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.
The STH 42 road closure and detour associated with the Village’s project will be reinstated on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 and will continue to be removed on weekends between now and June 28th, 2024.
When the road closure and detour are in place, access to Village businesses is maintained and STH 42 is open to “Local Traffic Only” meaning any motorists that live, work, or are making a stop at a businesses/public facility on STH 42 within the road closure are allowed to pass through. This week in the TAP project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South End and CTH E to Church Street – North End) sidewalk installation was completed, restoration work continued, and asphalt binder paving was completed. This week in the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) tree grate, brick paver, and retaining wall installation continued as well as prep work for curb and gutter on areas where it is yet to be installed. Asphalt pavement patching will also be completed in order to get the road ready to reopen without a detour for the Memorial Day weekend holiday.

This week in the TAP project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South End and CTH E to Church Street – North End) sidewalk installation neared completion and restoration work began. Looking into next week final sidewalk installation will be completed, restoration operations will continue, and prep work will begin for asphalt paving and street light installation.
This week a lot of progress was made in the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) with the installation of 50% of the sidewalk and concrete terrace complete as well as prep work for installation of tree grates and the brick paver terrace as well as final grading on the remaining 50% of the curb and gutter and sidewalk and continued installation of retaining walls. Looking into next week, retaining wall installation should near completion along with prep work for the remaining curb and gutter and sidewalk installation.
Utility burial in the Core project area is now substantially completed with minor adjustments and restoration left to be completed.
MAY 5TH, 2024

This week in the TAP project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South End and CTH E to Church Street – North End) construction operations continued with installation of sidewalk in both project sections as well as the installation of the final street lighting conduit and street light bass. Sidewalk installation in both project sections should finish early next week followed by restoration work and light pole installation.
This week in the Core project (Harbor School Road to CTH E) construction crews continued installation of retaining walls, street light bases, and tree wells and began prepping for sidewalk and installation of sidewalk. Next week, sidewalk, tree well, and retaining wall installation will continue with grading work and curb and gutter installation to follow on the opposite side of the roadway.
Utility burial in the Core project area is now substantially completed with only minor adjustments and restoration left to be completed.

This week in the TAP project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South End and CTH E to Church Street – North End) construction operations continued with installation of sidewalk in the southern TAP section and installation of light pole bases and prep work for sidewalk installation in the northern project section. Next week, the final removals will be completed in the southern project section with grading to follow. Sidewalk installation will also begin in the northern project section.
This week in the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) construction crews completed installation of storm water filtration devices, grading operations, prep work for installation of retaining walls, and began curb and gutter preparation and installation. APRIL 12TH, 2024 UPDATE
With the return of a mild weather forecast, construction operations continued in full swing this week.
This week in the TAP project sections streetlighting bases were installed and prep work for the installation of sidewalk began in the southern project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road). Next week, light pole base installation and prep work for installation for sidewalk will begin in the northern project section (CTH E to Church Street). Curb and gutter gaps will also be taken care of in both project sections next week.
In the Core project section, Harbor School to CTH E, construction crews finished grading work on CTH E between STH 42 and Church Street and began grading work on the east side of the roadway from CTH E to White Cliff Road and west side of the roadway from White Cliff Road to Harbor School Road. Looking into next week, prep work for curb and gutter will begin along CTH E and the east side of STH 42 from CTH E to White Cliff Road. Curb and gutter installation on CTH E is expected to begin late in the week.

APRIL 5TH, 2024 UPDATE
Winter Storm Cora changed the anticipated construction progress this week. However, the Village’s STH 42 Improvement Project construction continues and the STH 42 road closure remains in effect.
This week in the TAP project sections (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South end and CTH E to Church Street – North end) curb and gutter installation was completed in the southern project section on Monday prior to the winter weather. The rest of the week consisted of snow removal and associated clean up. Next week, construction crews will begin prep work for the installation of sidewalk in both project sections.
Construction in Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) also continued this week with grading work starting on CTH E between STH 42 and Church Street prior to the winter weather. The remainder of the week consisted of snow removal, associated clean up, and continuation of storm water repair on STH 42 and grading work on CTH E on Friday. Looking into next week, storm sewer work should be completed early in the week, with grading operations to follow on CTH E and STH 42 from CTH E to Orchard Road.

MARCH 29TH, 2024 UPDATE
The STH 42 road closure remains in effect and construction operations continue.
This week in the TAP project sections (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South end and CTH E to Church Street – North end) construction operations continued with installation of curb and gutter in the south project section later in the week and continuing early next week. Installation of curb and gutter in the norther project section is expected to start mid-late week next week.
Construction in the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) also continued this week with storm sewer repairs along STH 42 and installation of storm sewer infrastructure within the Paul J Bertschigner Center parking lot. Looking into next week, storm sewer work will continue in this project area with work most concentrated from White Cliff Road south. Grading operations will also begin in the this project section next week starting on CTH E and then moving on to STH 42 from CTH E to White Cliff Road.
Utility burial operations continued this week as well. With the main line utility trench now complete, utility companies continue installing their facilities. Looking into next week, construction crews will continue service installation and setting of equipment.

Construction in the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) also continued this week with storm sewer repairs along STH 42 and installation of storm sewer infrastructure on CTH E from STH 42 to Church Street. Looking into next week, storm sewer work will continue in this project area with work most concentrated between Orchard Road and White Cliff Road.

MARCH 15TH, 2024 UPDATE
The STH 42 road closure remains in effect and road construction continued full steam ahead this week.
In the TAP project sections (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South end and CTH E to Church Street – North end) construction operations continued with installation of streetlighting conduit. Thanks for the fair weather forecast, looking into next week, prep work will begin for installation of curb and gutter, with installation of curb and gutter tentatively schedule to begin in the southern project section beginning on Wednesday.
Also, construction kicked off in the Core project section this week (Harbor School Road to CTH E). Work this week included installation of traffic control and erosion control as well as removals, clearing and grubbing and installation of storm sewer infrastructure on CTH E from STH 42 to Church Street as well as storm sewer repairs on STH 42. Looking into next week, storm sewer installation will continue on CTH E, therefore, access to STH 42 from CTH E west of Church Street will be delayed and possibly restricted at times. Next week, storm sewer repairs will also continue along STH 42 starting near Orchard Road and continuing south.
Utility burial continued this week, with installation of the main line utility trench being completed early in the week. Looking into next week, a road crossing is currently scheduled to take place Monday, March 18th, 2024 just south of Harbor School Road. This crossing will be completed in halves in order to maintain access to Harbor School Road via STH 42 throughout the process. Service installation and setting of utility equipment will continue the remainder of the week from Orchard Road continuing south.

MARCH 12TH 2024 UPDATE
An additional update is being provided this week as with the weekly outlook described in the March 8th, 2024, update, no road crossings related to the utility work were proposed.
As the installation of the main line utility trench was completed earlier than expected, three road crossings are now scheduled to take place starting tomorrow Wednesday, March 13th, 2024 and Thursday, March 14th, 2024.
Two of the three crossings will occur simultaneously on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, one at the south end of the Market Street/STH 42 intersection and the other approximately 150 ft. south of the intersection. The third and final road crossing for the week is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 14th, 2024, approximately 150 ft. north of the Harbor School Road intersection.
Access via STH 42 will be restricted at times during this process; therefore, we ask that motorists utilize either Market Street or Harbor School Road as a bypass to Church Street during this time.

MARCH 8TH, UPDATE
The STH 42 road closure remains in effect and road construction continues.
Road construction operations were pretty quiet this week but will pick back up full steam ahead come Monday, March 11th, 2024.
In the TAP project sections (South Trail to Harbor School Road – South end and CTH E to Church Street – North end) construction operations will continue on Monday, with installation of street lighting conduit and prep work for installation of curb and gutter in both project sections.
Also, the final segment of the Village’s STH 42 Improvement project, the Core project section (Harbor School Road to CTH E) will officially begin, starting Monday, March 11th, 2024. Work next week includes installation of traffic control and erosion control as well as removals, clearing and grubbing, and installation of storm sewer infrastructure on CTH E from STH 42 to Church Street. The storm sewer work on CTH E is anticipated to begin on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, in which the area will become congested with materials and equipment. Therefore, we ask that alternate routes be utilized. Access to properties along STH 42 north of CTH E will be available via STH 42.

Deliveries of materials and equipment for the Core project construction will be taking place Monday, March 11th, 2024. Therefore, delays and inconveniences should be expected at times.

Road construction operations have slowed down in each project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road and CTH E to Church Street) as grading operations have finished up for the time being. Final adjustments to utility lines and poles will be completed in the next week or so, which will allow the street lighting installation to begin with set up for installation of curb and gutter to follow.

Also, the final segment of the Village's road construction project from Harbor School Road to CTH E is slated to begin Monday, March 11th, 2024. A public meeting to review the project schedule, access during construction and other details related to the construction of this project section will be held with businesses, residents, and property owners on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held in the Great Hall at the Donald & Carol Kress Pavilion, 7845 Church Street and via the Zoom meeting platform using Meeting ID: 880 8560 7690. Representatives from the Village's project team and Vinton Construction Company will be available to answer any questions.
FEBRUARY 22ND, 2024 UPDATE
Another fair weather week provided our construction crews with an opportunity to make good progress on construction operations. The STH 42 road closure remains in effect. Please follow the “Construction Bypass” signage along alternate access routes to navigate through the Village outside of the road closure.
Construction operations in the southern project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road) have slowed down as prep work continues for installation of streetlights.
This week, construction operations in the northern project section (CTH E to Church Street) consisted of grading operations. Next week, construction crews will work on clean up items and prep work for installation of streetlights and sidewalks.
Utility burial continued this week with work most concentrated between Orchard Road and White Cliff Road.
Looking into next week, a road crossing just north of the CTH G/STH 42 intersection will take place on Monday, February 26th, 2024. Access via STH 42 will be restricted at times during this process; therefore, we ask that motorists utilize either Market Street/Orchard Road to Church Street or CTH G to Dock Road to White Cliff Road (through the marina parking lot) as a bypass during this time. A second road crossing just south of the CTH G/STH 42 intersection is also preliminary scheduled for next week, Thursday, February 29th, 2024. Again, access via STH 42 will be restricted at times during this process and we ask that motorists use alternate routes as a bypass.
Utility burial will also continue on the east side of STH 42 from approximately the CTH G intersection toward Market Street.

FEBRUARY 15TH, 2024 UPDATE
The STH 42 road construction and road closure continues. Again, construction crews continue to make good progress as the weather has been very cooperative.
This week in the southern project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road), construction crews completed removals of existing curb and gutter and continued with grading operations. With this work completed, an outline of the future streetscape is starting to form. Continuing into next week, work in this area will slow down as prepping begins for installation of streetlights and sidewalks.
Installation of storm sewer infrastructure wrapped up in the northern project section (CTH E to Church Street) this week, with grading operations continuing the remainder of this week and into next week.
Utility burial continued this week with work most concentrated from CTH E approximately 400 ft. north. Work will continue this week and into next week from Orchard Road to White Cliff Road. Two road crossings related to the utility burial will take place starting on Monday, February 19th, 2024. The first being across STH 42 just north of the STH 42/White Cliff Road intersection and the second across White Cliff Road at the STH 42 intersection. Access via STH 42 will be restricted at times during this process; therefore, we ask that motorists utilize Orchard Road and Market Street to access Church Street as a bypass during this time. Construction crews plan to complete both crossings on Monday, February 19th, 2024, however it is possible that if unexpected circumstances are encountered work may continue into Tuesday, February 20th, 2024.
After completion of the road crossings, utility burial will continue from White Cliff Road to CTH G within Harbor View Park.
Village businesses remain open and accessible. “Local traffic” meaning travelers that live, work, or are making a stop at a business/public facility within the road closure are allowed to pass through the road closure area. As you plan to visit Village businesses, please review the alternate access routes map to plan ahead to avoid delays and inconveniences. FEBRUARY 8TH, 2024 UPDATE
The mild weather forecast continues to allow our construction crews to make good progress on construction operations. The STH 42 road closure remains in effect, and “Construction Bypass” signage has been installed along alternate access routes in order to assist motorists in navigating around the construction work zones.
STH 42 remains open to “Local Traffic”. Therefore, any motorists that live, work or are making a stop at a business/public facility within the road closure are allowed to pass through the road closure area. Village businesses remain open and accessible, and we ask that travelers review the alternate access routes map as you plan to visit Village businesses in order to avoid delays and inconveniences. We ask that all motorists and pedestrians traveling within the road closure area use caution and/or utilize other routes whenever possible.
This week, in the southern project section (South Trail to Harbor School Road), the installation of storm sewer infrastructure wrapped up with grading operations immediately following and continuing through the remainder of this week and into next week. After grading operations are completed, construction crews will begin removals of existing curb and gutter.
This week, in the northern project section, (CTH E to Church Street) installation of storm sewer infrastructure continued and is expected to be completed by early next week with grading operations to follow.
Utility burial also continued this week with work heavily concentrated between Orchard Road and White Cliff Road and a small area north of CTH E.
Looking into next week, three separate road crossing will be completed across STH 42 from CTH E to approximately 400 ft. north. This work is anticipated to be completed on Tuesday, February 13th and Wednesday, February 14th. Access via STH 42 will be restricted at times during this process. Please utilize Church Street as a bypass during this time. Additionally, utility burial will also continue between Orchard Road and White Cliff Road.
FEBRUARY 1ST, 2024 UPDATE
The STH 42 road construction and road closure continues. With another favorable weather forecast this week, construction crews continue to make good progress and are currently on target in terms of our construction schedule. The installation of the storm sewer main line will wrap up at the end of this week and the beginning of next week. Early to mid-week, next week, installation of storm sewer inlets will be completed followed by grading work. Again, these work areas are most concentrated between South Trial and Harbor School Road on the south end of the Village and CTH E and Church Street on the north end of the Village. Please note that installation of some inlets will occur in halves in order to maintain access of the roadway, however, delays should be expected. Utilization of alternate routes if possible is recommended in order to avoid delays and inconveniences.
Utility burial also continued this week with work heavily concentrated between CTH E and Orchard Road, and work continuing south of Orchard Road toward White Cliff Road.
Looking into next week, on Monday, February 5th, 2024, a road crossing related to the utility burial will be completed across Orchard Road just east of the Orchard Road driveway access to the Paul J Bertschinger Center. Access via Orchard Road from Church Street will be restricted during this time and possibly into Tuesday, February 6th, 2024.
Please utilize the alternate access routes map as a resource as you plan to visit Village businesses. Village businesses remain open and accessible, and you are considered “Local Traffic” if you are making a stop at a business/public facility within the road closure area.
Additionally, this week, new “Construction Bypass” signage was installed along the alternate access routes in order to further assist motorists in navigating around the construction work zones. We ask that all motorists and pedestrians traveling within the road closure area use caution and/or utilize other routes whenever possible.
JANUARY 25TH, 2024 UPDATE
The STH 42 road construction and the road closure continues. Construction crews made good progress this week as the weather forecast was more cooperative. Blasting operations wrapped up in the northern project section this week. Storm sewer installation continues and is currently most concentrated between South Trail and Harbor School Road on the south end and from CTH E to Church Street on the north end.
Looking into next week, storm sewer main line installation will be nearing completion. After completion of the installation of the main line, construction crews will be working on storm sewer inlet installation. Installation of some inlets will occur in halves in order to maintain access of the roadway, however, delays should be expected. Utilization of alternate routes if possible is recommended in order to avoid delays and inconveniences. Grading operations will begin at the completion of storm sewer work.

Looking into next week, on Monday, January 29th, 2024 a road crossing related to the utility burial will take place across STH 42 at the north end of the Orchard Road, STH 42 intersection. Access via STH 42 will be restricted at times during this process however, access to Orchard Road and the Paul J Bertschinger Center parking lot will be available as a bypass. Additionally, a road crossing across Orchard Road will be required. The Orchard Road, road crossing is anticipated to be completed after access via STH 42 has been restored. Access to Orchard Road may be restricted for a couple of days, however, the Paul J Bertschinger parking lot access via STH 42 will be available as a bypass. Access to Orchard Road will be available via Church Street. At completion of the road crossings, utility burial will continue moving south from Orchard Road to White Cliff Road.

STH 42 road construction and the road closure continues. Currently road construction is most concentrated between CTH T/South Trial and Harbor School Road on the south end of STH 42 and CTH E and Church Street on the north end of STH 42. Utility work is currently most concentrated between CTH E and Orchard Road. Driveway access off of STH 42 to the Bertschinger Center/Post Office will be closed for a period of time on Friday, January 19th, 2024. Please utilize the driveway access on Orchard Road.
Construction activity this week started off slow due to the extremely low temperatures and impact of Blizzard Bennet. Construction activity picks up mid week, specifically with rock excavation within the north construction zone. Installation of storm sewer infrastructure is likely to continue in both construction zones next week.
Please review the alternative access routes map provided to plan ahead to avoid construction related delays/inconveniences. Temporary signage has been installed along alternative access routes. Additional signage along alternative access routes and along detour route is pending as delays occurred due to inclement weather.

JANUARY 4TH, 2024 UPDATE
As of Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, the STH 42 road closure went into effect from CTH T/South Trail to Church Street. This road closure is required in the Village of Egg Harbor to facilitate construction of a local road construction and utility burial project. Current construction limits include roadway construction beginning at CTH T/South Trail to Harbor School Road and beginning at CTH E to Church Street as well as utility burial beginning at CTH E to Harbor School Road. Additional roadway construction to begin from Harbor School Road to CTH E mid-February 2024.
The contractor for the current roadway construction is Advance Construction Inc. of De Pere, WI. Construction activities have begun, and therefore, the roadway has been closed to through traffic (PLEASE REVIEW OFFICIAL DETOUR ROUTE AND INFORMATION BELOW).
The road is open the LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY. Local traffic is defined as vehicles with a destination inside the work zone. Therefore, anyone who is traveling through the road closure to stop and shop, stop and dine, stop at their place of employment, stop at the Post Office, stop at their home, stop at their hotel, etc. is allowed to pass through the road closure. Access to homes, businesses, and public facilities will be provided, however delays should be expected. All motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution through this area and/or utilize other routes when possible.
The Village of Egg Harbor in partnership with the Egg Harbor Business Association developed a Construction Accessibility Plan that reviews alternate routes, information on alternate routes and a map available for download can be found here: https://eggharbordoorcounty.org/detour/
Additional signage along the official detour route and along alternative routes indicating that Egg Harbor Businesses are Open and Accessible will be installed ASAP but no later than the end of next week.

NOTICE OF UPCOMING ROAD CONSTRUCTION & DETOUR
Beginning Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, road closures are required in the Village of Egg Harbor to facilitate construction of a local road construction and utility burial project. Project construction limits include roadway construction beginning at South Trail to Harbor School Road and beginning at CTH E to Church Street as well as utility burial beginning at CTH E to Harbor School Road in January 2024. Additional roadway construction to begin from Harbor School Road to CTH E mid-February 2024. Therefore, a road detour will be implemented along STH 42 starting on January 2nd, 2024 and formally ending on June 28th, 2024. The official detour route is as follows: STH 42 to CTH I, CTH I to STH 57, STH 57 to CTH V, CTH V to CTH A, CTH A to CTH EE, CTH EE to STH 42.
Please note that during the detour period, STH 42 will be OPEN TO LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY (defined as vehicles with a destination inside of the work zone).

Please note that STH 42 will be entirely open to through traffic during the following dates: Memorial Day weekend (May 24th, 2024 - May 28th, 2024), Juneteenth holiday (June 18th, 2024 - June 20th, 2024) and weekends from May 31st, 2024 - June 24th, 2024.
Efforts are being made to expedite construction as much as possible. However in order to address any possible delays, the official detour schedule has been put into place. All motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution through the project area and/or utilize alternate routes when possible.
The Village requests your patience and understanding during this time as we strive to minimize disruptions and inconveniences to community members. This webpage will be regularly updated with information on the project schedule and construction progress.
